Released 4

Merged changes included in a linked stable release.

ReleasedGo / #17259

Ollama/ AI infrastructure

Detecting a download stall before the first byte

The problem

A connected range request could produce no body bytes while its inactivity timestamp remained unset.

The change

Start the inactivity clock when each range attempt begins and signal completion when the transfer exits, retaining the existing stall threshold and retry behaviour.

The result

Merged upstream with regression coverage for headers arriving without body bytes and for completed transfers. Stall monitoring covers the initial no-progress window and completion no longer waits for the polling tick.

Verification & context

The PR records repeated focused tests, race tests and a controlled local completion benchmark. Its full-repository test command required a separate app UI build for embedded assets.

The completion benchmark measures a local transfer's finalisation delay. It does not measure internet bandwidth. Merged status and linked release ancestry checked on 21 October 2026.

ReleasedGo / #3370

Charmbracelet Crush/ Performance

Filter language servers before searching PATH

The problem

Discovery searched PATH for bundled servers before checking whether they could handle the current file.

The change

Filter relevant language servers first, then perform executable discovery.

The result

The documented controlled Apple M4 benchmark went from 50.82 ms to 308.61 µs.

Verification & context

This measures the LSP discovery workload, not overall application performance.

Testing an OpenAI-compatible adapter contract

The problem

The adapter contract needed focused test coverage without depending on live model calls.

The change

Add offline contract tests for the OpenAI-compatible model adapter.

The result

Merged regression coverage for adapter behaviour; production adapter code did not change.

Verification & context

The pull request includes an AI-assistance disclosure.

ReleasedGo / #8634

OpenTelemetry Go/ Engineering tooling

Cross-platform compile checks in CI

The problem

A build target executed generated test binaries, which does not work for foreign compilation targets.

The change

Add a compile-only Make target and a cross-build workflow.

The result

A 28-job matrix across 14 target platforms and two Go versions.

Verification & context

Compile coverage is distinct from running tests on every target platform.

Merged 1

Accepted upstream changes without a recorded release.

Charmbracelet Crush/ Performance and reliability

Removing quadratic work from streamed shell output

The problem

Each incoming chunk copied the full output buffer, and the collapsed view repeatedly processed output it did not display. Late buffered chunks could also duplicate completed output.

The change

Use a strings.Builder and incremental line count, select the visible output before formatting, and treat completion as authoritative. Preserve full output for expanded views and copying.

The result

Merged upstream with regression coverage for split ANSI sequences, visible-line boundaries and completion ordering. The controlled 1 MiB, 100-byte-chunk benchmark reduced append allocations from 5.540 GB to 5.244 MB.

Verification & context

The PR records package and race tests, lint, a race-enabled build and repeated focused tests. Benchmark medians came from ten runs on an Apple M4 with three iterations per run.

This is a benchmark of the shell-output append workload, not whole-application performance or a Windows result. Merged status checked on 21 October 2026; no release inclusion is asserted here.

Submitted for review 1

Java / #7785

ZAP/ Application security

Distinguishing public fallback pages from real 403 bypasses

The problem

The 403 bypass scanner could mistake a single-page application's public fallback response for protected content. Stopping at that first apparent success could also hide a later real bypass.

The change

Compare successful payload responses with successful responses from the site root and a random sibling path. Ignore identical public fallback bodies and continue testing remaining path and header payloads. Update the scanner help and changelog.

The result

Submitted upstream with 33 focused tests, 346 add-on tests and six installed ZAP comparison runs passing locally. Awaiting maintainer review; not merged or released.

Verification & context

Five regression cases failed against the unchanged scanner. The patched rule passed all 33 focused cases and all 346 beta add-on tests, plus style checks and packaging. Six asserted runs compared released and patched add-ons against synthetic loopback fixtures: the patched scanner ignored the plain SPA fallback and identified the real path and header bypasses. CLA and Checkmarx checks pass; upstream Java CI and CodeQL await maintainer approval.

Exact body matching leaves dynamically changing fallback pages as a limitation. The rule adds two control requests per scanned 403 endpoint. Status checked on 4 October 2026. AI assistance was used for investigation, implementation and validation.

Explaining a version and configuration interaction in CSP filters

The problem

A reported CSP alert-filter interaction needed a reproducible explanation before proposing another patch.

The change

Investigate the behaviour through ten controlled runs across two add-on versions and document the interaction with an existing broad filter.

The result

The reproduced cause was already covered by an existing upstream fix. A maintainer thanked me, and issue #9476 was closed as completed on 3 October 2026. No duplicate patch was submitted.

Verification & context

The local evidence does not confirm the original reporter's exact configuration. This is an investigation contribution, not a new merged code change.

Pull-request status and linked release ancestry checked on 21 October 2026. Released labels mean the merged commit is included in the linked stable release tag; they do not identify the first release containing the change. Benchmarks describe the stated workload. Recorded tests and benchmarks were not repeated for this portfolio update. Contributions can span more than one area.
